Chevy malibu cranks but wont start.
A quick search indicates that P0017 is crank position sensor/cam position sensor misalignment. Worst-case would be a broken timing chain; which might lead to a bunch of bent valves. There could be other things that set that code. Follow the diagnostic chart in the service manual to discover the cause.

MAF sensor cleaning and electrical testing if possible. 3. checking for bad contact at maf sensor's plug and wiers continuity. otherwise it is electrical could be the wiring to the fuel pump itself specially the plug close to the fuel tank.
still having issues with my 96 K1500 4.3L. Problem started with the truck not starting when cold, blew up a muffler, then it started. Replaced muffler, Rotor cap and rotor, ran great if I ran everyday. Sat for 3 days and blew up new muffler. Change spark plugs, wires, fuel regulator, TBI gaskets, welded muffler shut.
