I have a 1999 Johnson Ocean Pro 150 and I would like to do some preventative maintenance by changing my power trim tilt fluid. I remember a few years back that johnson outboards had a problem with the injection system mounts or something breaking, spraying gas all over the engine and starting fires.On the back of the engine there is a sensor that will have a brown wire and a yellow. If you ground the yellow wire while the engine is running it should slow down. That lets you know that the sensor is bad or the t-stats are stuck open. If I'm not mistaken ,your engine model has the split type shift rod coupler under the carb area.If so,you'll need to remove the hitch pin from the shift arm and push in on the arm to separate the coupler.may be easier to also remove the shift cable from the link arm to afford more movement ...
