I thought it to be nothing more than a gimmick to sell to the tacticool guys that want to be that guy at the range that has a 3rd position on their safety and shoot at insanely high rate while still in semi-auto.

I did some shooting with the Tac-Con 3MR trigger a few years back. It was fun enough. I liked that it was paired with it's own safety so the third mode was the forced reset.
