Since I want to try a red dot on my XDM 4.5 9mm Elite, I switched in the 9mm OSP slide and switched the barrels. XD and XDm slides are notorious for tight sights. Now that you have it out, no don't file dovetail, always fit sight to gun. File sight just a bit at a time until fits right. XD9 service, XDe9. The OP does show that his XDM is/was a 4.5, but since the Elite is out now, I felt some clarification should be warranted.
