How much hp can a stock 4l80e handle.

I am looking to build my own 4L80e. I have not built one yet but have done a few th350 and th400's years ago. Anyhow what all aftermarket internal parts are recommended for building a 4l80e that can handle up to 800hp? THere is no one size fits all threshold because there is no one size fits all affect. A perfect balanced turbo 302 engine that never saw above 5000 RPM would probably hold up pretty well to about 550 reliably. Now the average massive weight crap balance NA engine typically sheets itself around 6500 RPM and 450hp.

Having said that though some people seem to be very 'hard' on transmissions and can spit a T5 all over the ground behind a stock 302. Absolutely stock, about 400-450 HP. With proper hydraulic modifications during rebuild, about 750-800. Above that it needs a billet input shaft and forward hub. I have a manual control box that plugs into the outside and 12V Ign power to make one fully manual. Easily reversible to computer control.

I think the first thing to fail in a stock calibrated TH400 due to power would usually be the direct clutches. The sprag is a weak point also but I think engine rpm is as much of a killer as power.
