The serial number is MR 24XXXC. It has "WG" stamped on the left side of the barrel near the receiver. There is no "JM" or "REP" on the barrel. It says Marlin Arms Co, North Haven, CT on one side. That is a good question. According to a sheet, that gives production numbers made each year, for each Model 39A made from 1952 to 1975. According to your gun, someone miscounted.
