I'm only going to do the engine we're not taking the tranny out of the Softail I just want to make sure that there wasn't something special about the Softail engine Evo engine did it needed to be in a Softail frame or not because I figure to Evo engine is Evo engine and I can just swap the engines out. If that made any sense or not.

But it smokes like a freight train on start up smells like a gas and oil mixture. Doesn't smoke as much after running a bit. Gonna change the oil again now that the shake down is over . Remove the old engine and place it on an engine stand. 4. Install the new engine on the cart and connect fuel/exhaust. 5. Connect the battery and fill the engine with oil and coolant. 6. The '15 motor should be a direct replacement for the '07 except I think the '07 might still be an 1130 where the '15 will be a 1250 (same external dimensions just a larger sleeve and piston to increase the bore cc). I called my local HD dealer to ask how much it would cost to perform a cam swap and dyno. They quoted me 10 hours of labor @ $100/hr, plus 3 hours for the dyno - $1,300 total. I called two other dealers and one quoted 6 hours and the other one quoted 4-5 hours. 1. Find a good running motor trans and primary. (The whole motor) 2. I had to cut down the rear motor mounts by 1/8"each. Or if you have the ones from the 96" bike swap them. Fronts worked with no mods. 3. Swap plugs on the stator and transmission. From 96 to 88. I cut them off used crimps and shrink tubing. 4.Get a 06-12 transmission bracket.
