Mar 30, 2009 · I usually clean it again after a month of sitting. If I have been carrying it, I will put a patch with some light oil down the barrel at least a few times a week. Cleaning so often may be overkill, but I grew up shooting collector 1911s and match targets--and a dad that believed all primers were corrosive.

Pull the slide slightly to the rear about 1/16" and then with a small flat head screwdriver, pry the take down pin, upwards until it is loose. Remove Take Down Pin. Remove the take down pin out of the frame of the Ruger LCP. Remove the Slide From the Frame of the Ruger LCP.Small amounts of modern, inexpensive gun oil are much better than large amounts. Generally you would disassemble (field strip) your unloaded pistol, and put a drop on the barrel and use fingers to rub it over the surface.
