Well the idea is there are a lot more 3-4-5, 3-4-4, 3-5-5 combinations than just 3-3-3 at 4-2, so the augments would perform badly if the 3 costs were comparatively worse than the 4 or 5 costs, and when averaged out I think they actually have a better placement than 4.5 together on 4-2 so that means they outperform the 4/5 cost augments slightly.
