Be aware that a special tool is needed to disassemble the left fork on an 1800. Also be aware that a special tool or a home-made tool is needed to drive in the fork seals on any VTX.

So, with proper maintenance, and the necessary repairs and replacements from time to time, I expect my VTX to go at least that far before I replace her.I recently did my own first oil change. After reading the manual I purchased four quarts of oil. The manual says that the capacity of the case is 3.9 quarts. I drained from both the front and back quarts. After all was done, I seem to be coming up short. When checking the oil as described, the level does not even touch the dip stick.
