@flguy147ub17_ESO if you are just running dungeons, you don't have to worry about hitting the crit cap, so if you have the traditional crit build DD setup, I would run Mother's Sorrow with Deadly Strike. But Order's Wrath is a close second. The big upside to Order's is that you can craft it in medium which is the preferred armor for DDs now. HA with a lightning staff is: First 2 ticks are Dot single target (now they copy the single target damage at nearby targets, but not in the next update). Final tick is direct damage single target (with a copy of the damage to nearby enemies). As you can see, it's not a channel, and the dot part is the less important (and with the next update ... Not gonna lie, Runecarver is pile of wet bovine excrements compared Deadly Strike or Order's Wrath. It is difficult to get decent damage out of it. Ironically, that is especially so on the Arcanist. War Maiden can be considered A-tier for the Magicka Arcanist. Order's Wrath and Deadly Strike are S-tier for both Magicka and Stamina Arcanist.

In the tool tip of a skill it either says channel or cast time. Channels deal their damage throughout the time like jabs, rapid strikes, or Templar beam.
